P.R.I.M.E. Finance Chairman Jeffrey Golden spoke at the 23rd IFI General Counsels' Annual Meeting
On June 1, P.R.I.M.E. Finance Chairman Jeffrey Golden was invited to the 23rd IFI General Counsels' Annual Meeting, where he gave a presentation on the relevance of effective dispute resolution to local markets and sustainable development. Professor Golden spoke of the challenges of resolving disputes related to complex financial products often used to manage risk in development strategies and the practical benefits, including potential cost savings, of expert and specialist dispute settlement mechanisms as a complement to building the capacity of judges in the developed and developing world to handle these kind of cases.
The meeting was organized by the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) at its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. General Counsels from 20 International Financial Institutions (IFI), including the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asian Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, and the International Finance Corporation, joined the discussions about the latest legal challenges and best practices in the field of development finance. The meeting was chaired by Heikki Cantell, General Counsel of the Nordic Investment Bank and a P.R.I.M.E. Finance Expert.
