Former Supreme Court Justice from the United Kingdom joins P.R.I.M.E. Finance Panel of Experts
The Hague, 28 March 2019
P.R.I.M.E. Finance (the Hague-based Panel of Recognised International Market Experts in Finance) proudly announces the appointment of Lord Mance, former Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, to its Panel of Experts.
Lord Mance served as a commercial judge in the English High Court from 1993 to 1999, as a Lord Justice of Appeal in the Court of Appeal from 1999 to 2005, and from 2005 as a Law Lord in the House of Lords before becoming a Justice of the Supreme Court on its formation in 2009 and later its Deputy President in September 2017. He retired from the Court in June 2018, returning to his former Chambers, 7 King’s Bench Walk, where he currently practices as an arbitrator.
Professor Jeffrey Golden, Chair of the P.R.I.M.E. Finance Foundation, welcomed Lord Mance’s new commitment to P.R.I.M.E. Finance, commenting:
The collective wisdom represented by P.R.I.M.E. Finance’s experts gets a massive boost by this appointment. Among the many highlights in Lord Mance’s long and distinguished career on the bench were his decisions in some of the earliest landmark complex product cases, such as Dharmala (1996) and ANZ v SocGen (2000), and many of the judgments he has authored since have also been closely followed by, and been of particular significance to, the financial markets. That unique experience now enhances our offering, and all involved in the project look forward to benefitting from it.
